Item No. 10278: A Meissen Porcelain Bowl And Lid With Snowball Decoration, ca. 1870-1880

The Meissen porcelain sugar bowl and lid decorated profusely with snowball flower blossom, trailing roses and leaves with yellow canaries sitting on branches as well as handle to lid. J. J. Kaendler, the master modeller at the Meissen manufacture, created the delicate snowball decoration around 1739, which became very desirable and collected by royalty and the aristocracy throughout Europe. The featured snowball Meissen sugar bowl is of the 19th century, Meissen blue crossed swords to base.
