This platter is painted in the Sevres style with Venus arising from the sea with attendant and Armor, the central cartouche with faux jewelling , intricate gilded scroll work all on cobalt blue ground, the back to platter with Initials J.C. and painted initials B, French porcelain, c. 1880.
